Foreigners and stateless persons can also sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, but they are subject to a number of additional conditions.:

1. Legal stay. The candidate must be legally present in Russia.
2. Age. Usually from 18 to 60-64 years old — the exact range depends on the requirements of a particular selection point.
3. Knowledge of the language. Basic knowledge of the Russian language is required.
4. Medical examination. It is mandatory to pass a military medical commission and psychological tests.
5. The term of the contract. For foreign citizens, the contract is concluded, as a rule, for exactly 1 year, including the period of participation in hostilities.
6. Positions. Foreign citizens and stateless persons serve only in non-officiating positions.
7. Documents. It is mandatory to have a valid passport of your country or a document for stateless persons.

Important note: according to the law, a contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation can be concluded only once. In some cases, serving under a contract entitles you to simplified citizenship of the Russian Federation.
